Every year ShareCare hosts a Valentine luncheon, giving our members the opportunity for a lovely social gathering in what can be the dreariest time of year in Northern Michigan. This year's Royal Banquet was held at the Bluebird in Leland. In addition to gathering with friends, ShareCare honored its members who turned 90 during the last year. Toasts were made to our Kings and Queens, certificates were presented, and good wishes were granted to our honorees. ShareCare donated two electric wheelchairs to an organization called Alternatives in Motion, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) corporation founded in 1995 as an alternative to traditional and often limiting methods for people with disabilities to obtain mobility. In short, the provide wheelchairs for people who are uninsured. We recently recieved notice that one of our donated wheelchairs was delivered to a lady in the Grand Rapids area who will be able to cruise around her neighborhood now that she has a new set of wheels.
